What is Cloud Sync?

Cloud Sync is ON1’s end‑to‑end sync service that keeps your images and edits in step across your devices. You can:

• Review and rate on your phone, then sit down at your desktop and all your ratings, labels, crops, and edits are already there.

Where is Cloud Sync available?

• Desktop: ON1 Photo RAW (Windows 10/11, macOS 12+). Cloud Sync access is included with Photo RAW MAXand ON1 Everything subscriptions.
• Mobile: ON1 Photo RAW for Mobile on iOS and Android (free download; sign in with your ON1 account).

• Editable Previews — Space‑efficient compressed raws designed for full non‑destructive editing with minimal quality trade‑offs. Ideal for mobile culling and editing without filling the cloud. You can swap individual items or whole albums between modes later.

Which should you pick?

• Delivering on the road? Use Originals for export‑ready fidelity.
• Traveling light? Use Editable Previews for nearly all editing, then keep originals local on your main workstation/NAS.

Step‑by‑step: Getting set up in 5 minutes

1. Update & sign in
   • Install the latest Photo RAW MAX on your computers. Sign in with your ON1 account on each device.
   • Install Photo RAW for Mobile on your phone/tablet and sign in.
2. Pick what to publish
   • In Browse, right‑click an Album or Cataloged Folder → Publish to Cloud Sync → choose Editable Previews or Originals.
3. Verify on mobile
   • Open Photo RAW for Mobile → Albums. Your published albums appear automatically. Toggle Auto‑Import if you want mobile captures to flow back to your desktop.
4. Work anywhere
   • Star, color‑label, crop, and edit from any device. Changes sync to the others as soon as they’re online.
5. Manage storage
   • In Photo RAW, check Cloud Sync usage and unpublish old jobs/albums to free space. Promote key images from Previews → Originals as needed.

1) Travel‑to‑studio handoff

• On location: Ingest to laptop → create “Client X — Day 1” album → Publish as Editable Previews.
• Evening: Quick mobile cull on the couch (stars/labels).
• Back at studio: Open same album on desktop → sort by rating → finish color & local adjustments → export deliverables.

2) Hybrid Lightroom Classic + ON1 MAX

• Keep importing and organizing in Lightroom Classic.
• Send hero candidates to ON1 via the MAX plugin for masks, effects, NoNoise AI, etc.

How to Access Your Files

You’ll still find your local drives etc on the left-hand side under Local Drives just like the previous versions.

Breadcrumb Navigation (has been updated in version 2024)

Previously in ON1 Photo RAW 2023, the breadcrumb navigation was located at the top of Browse.

New in ON1 Photo RAW 2024

In the latest release, the breadcrumbs are now located at the bottom of Browse.

You can also click the right-side downward chevron to pop up Folder, Favorites, Albums, and File locations.

Locating the App Icons for the other Edit modules

By default, we have hidden all the in-app icons for a more clean look in the user interface. In the previous version of ON1 Photo RAW 2023, you accessed the Edit (including Resize) modules on the upper right-hand side. You can turn these views back on under the Window Menu and choose ‘Show Right Bumper’.

You can also enable ‘Show Browse Shortcuts’ if you want the left-hand side pane shortcuts to be visible.

Opening Images into the Edit Modules

To open an image in the individual modules, simply click on ‘More’ icon to get a list to select the individual modules.

Showing the Tool Options Bar

Each time you select a tool, a set of options for the tool is in the Tool Options bar above the main image preview window. By default, in version 2024 it requires you to hover your cursor over this area for the options to appear. If you want to see the tool options bar all the time without having to hover, go to the View menu and at the bottom uncheck ‘Auto Hide Tool Option Bar’.

Controlling the Properties Inspector (for Masking, Blending, and Text)

In Photo RAW 2024, blending options, text options, and masking options are combined into a new floating panel called the Properties Inspector. Users can open and close tabs by clicking, making it more space-efficient. A new autohide feature (available in 2024.1 and released in December 2023) collapses the inspector automatically, enhancing user configurability. Even better, the inspector can be nested in the right-hand control group for even more convenience. The auto-collapse options provide flexibility for collapsing and expanding as needed. Just go to the Window menu, and choose each option from the Properties menu item.

If you ever tried editing on a smaller display the font can be a little too small. The new variable font size control coming to ON1 Photo RAW 2023. Soon you’ll be able to adjust the font to fit perfectly on even the tiniest screens or the highest resolution displays.

We conducted an ON1 Resize AI review and sat down with many industry professionals over the last several weeks. ON1 needs to get feedback to allow them to see what we are working on. The best all-in-one raw processor and photo editing software will soon have a new Liquify Tool. Coming in the next free update to ON1 Photo RAW 2022 (in late December), the new Liquify Tool will let you push, bloat and pinch areas of your photo to reduce flaws or reshape regions. It will be completely non-destructive, so you can easily adjust each stroke after the fact. ON1 Photo RAW owners have been asking for this feature for a long time, and we are happy to be bringing this tool into their workflow.

Buying a new computer or restoring from a crash will be much easier soon with the upcoming back-up and restore feature. It backs-up all your edits, albums, presets, extras, styles, sync settings, etc. When you need to restore, just move your photos to the new computer, install Photo RAW and choose restore and you will be back like nothing happened.

In ON1 Photo RAW 2021.5 (a free update we have coming soon) you will be able to set up Loupedeck to use in your Photo RAW editing. Loupedeck creates custom editing consoles for photo, video, and audio editing and design. Apple just released iOS 14.3, an update that adds support for the all-new “ProRaw” file format exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

According to Apple:

“ProRAW gives you all the standard RAW information, along with the Apple image pipeline data. So you can get a head start on editing, with noise reduction and multi-frame exposure adjustments already in place — and have more time to tweak color and white balance.”
